Task 2.1 Investigate possibility of repairing and reusing
Objective:
Many repairing and reusing solution are existing but unfortunately the ratio of reused compared to the global e waste quantity is very low. While only 40% of broken electrical and electronic devices are repaired today, the public authorities are aiming to increase this rate to 60% by 2025. Several actions are underway in European countries and deserve to be observed and democratised:- - Reparability Index
- - Lower VAT on repairs in several European countries
- - The introduction of a repair voucher
- - Obligation on manufacturers
- - voluntary movements develop to help private persons.
Description:
Solutions do exist, and they are very often directed toward individuals to help them repair their electronic equipment. But in front of these solutions weighs the weight of the consumer society that encourages them to buy new products rather than repair them. The refurbished market has also found its place in this gap.EECONE wants, among other things, to improve the rate of repair and reuse of electronic systems by improving existing solutions but also by working on innovative solutions that will eventually reduce e-waste emissions in Europe. We must also propose solutions for industrialists and companies, as electronics are also part of their daily life and repair solutions must be obvious for them too. Thus, by acting on all the links in the chain, we can propose a more virtuous European model that favours the circular economy and the reduction of waste. Now, what EECONE wants to work on to go further and reach the objectives set by the public authorities for 2025:
